Opening Statement...
Obviously, it was an excellent basketball game. It was a much better second half for us than our first half for a lot of reasons. I love the rebounding stats. That bodes well for us. It was a tough game all-around, a knock-down, drag-out game. Ohio State, obviously, is an excellent team. They battled hard. We battled hard. We made some plays down the stretch that were pretty good, I thought.
On the team's play in the second half...
I think we were down seven going into the half. They finished on a 9-0 run at the end of the half. We just weren't as strong as we needed to be. Obviously, Ohio State did some good things. In the second half, both on offense and on defense, there was a focus to certainly attack more. We were smarter defensively. We took ourselves out of position too much in the first half. I thought we played a little bit better in position in the second half, though.
On the steal by Rene Haynes with 18 seconds left to seal the win...
That's vintage Rene. She makes those plays all the time. Gosh, she made plays at Purdue. She's very quick. She's very confident and Rene is also very experienced. There's nothing she's going to see that she hasn't seen. She's seen a lot as a player. She's been through a lot of different circumstances. The player made the play.
On the play of Allyssa DeHaan...
Allyssa DeHaan was the player of the game, make no mistake about it. She was the best player on the floor for 40 minutes of this particular game. Of course, we were going to go to her, irrespective of who is in foul trouble. She earned that right. She was poised and did some great things. She's been working hard this year. She's played against every center in the country. She's already played against Sylvia Fowles (at LSU). She's already played against Crystal Langhorne (at Maryland). I mean, Jess (Davenport) is a great center, we all know that, but it's not like this was a new experience for Allyssa.
