KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Sophomore Tyler Sauerbrey was the only Spartan to come away with a singles win Saturday at the Western Michigan Invitational. The six Michigan State players competing will conclude the weekend with one round of singles on Sunday.
Sauerbrey's win came in a three-set battle against Ben Hartman of DePaul. After losing the first set, 6-0, Sauerbrey took the final two stanzas 6-4, 6-3. Sophomore Alex Allon and freshman John Stratton each managed to win one set on the day. MSU finished 1-11 on the day.
"A lot of the matches could've gone either way," head coach Gene Orlando said. "We came here to work on our game and improve. We're looking to rebound and get better."
