Women's Tennis Wraps Up Action At ITA Tournament

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan State's women's tennis program completed singles action late Saturday night at the Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional touranment hosted by the University of Michigan. Senior Christine Bader advanced to the round of 32 before falling, while junior Stephanie Kebler fell in first-round action.
In round one, Bader defeated Toledo's Ashley Fray in two sets, taking a 6-4, 6-4 decision - but fell in her round of 32 match, 7-6(4), 3-6, 3-6, to Northwestern's Samantha Murray.
"Christine Bader had a really great day today," said head coach Erica Perkins. "She challenged Murray from the first point and played high-level tennis. Those matches are always tough to lose, but Christine proved today that she can play with the best players in the country."
Kebler fell in the round of 64, dropping a hard fought three-set match to Illinois State's Katie Miller; Miller rallied for a 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 victory. In consolation action, Kebler picked up a win over Eastern Illinois' Sandra Sasidharan, 6-1, 6-3.
Michigan State women's tennis will not return to the courts for competition until next semester, traveling to Michigan's tournament on Jan. 11-13, 2008.
