MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - All four members of the Michigan State men's tennis team bowed out of the ITA Regional Championships Saturday. The quartet combined to go 1-4 in singles play, with junior Alex Forger picking up MSU's lone singles victory.
"We had some chances, but we lost a lot of close matches," head coach Gene Orlando said. "The competition at this point is a little stiffer, and that's why you want to win the close matches.
"But that's what the fall is all about. We're getting better and getting ready for the spring."
Seniors Nick Rinks and Adam Monich, who won their first two doubles matches on Friday, lost a tight 9-8 (3) match to Luke Rassow-Kantor and Jeremy Sonkin of Wisconsin.
The Spartans will continue their fall season next weekend at the Western Michigan Invitational, beginning Friday, Oct. 26.
