
Women's Tennis Sends Four To Wilson/ITA Regional

EAST LANSING, Mich. - MSU women's tennis sends four student-athletes to the 2007 Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Michigan Oct. 18-23 in Ann Arbor, Mich. Freshmen Lindsey Lonergan and eighth-seeded Manon Noe have been invited to participate in the qualifying bracket, playing for one of the eight open spots in the main draw; senior Christine Bader and junior Stephanie Kebler pre-qualified for the main draw. Qualifying action begins Friday, Oct. 18 while main draw matches start Saturday, Oct. 20.
Lonergan will open the tournament against Jessica Guterbaugh from Bradley, while Noe is set to play Iowa's Kelcie Klockenga. Both matches will be played tomorrow at 9 a.m. followed by either second round or consolation matches.
The six-day event features a 64-player singles qualifying draw, which begins on Thursday (Oct. 18). Those 64 players will be competing for eight spots into the main draw, which begins on Saturday (Oct. 20). The 64-team doubles main draw begins on Friday (Oct. 19).
Seventeen ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women are taking place over the next week at campuses throughout the country. The singles finalists and doubles champion from each regional event will earn spots in the 2007 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, which Ohio State University will host Nov. 1-4 at the Racquet Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ohio.
