
Spartans Still Alive At ITA Regional Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's tennis completed the forth day in ITA Midwest Regional Championship play in Ann Arbor, Mich., Sunday. One Spartan, sophomore Nick Rinks earned a third round victory to advance.
In the singles main draw, Nick Rinks defeated one opponent today to advance to the quarterfinals. Rinks knocked off Jose Orozco of Western Michigan, 6-4, 6-2, and will face Nic Edlefsen of Minnesota tomorrow.
In doubles action, Michigan State had two teams in the competition today. Freshmen John Allare and Scott Rasmussen fell to Brian Hung and Maravic Matko of Michigan, 8-3. The duo of Rinks and sophomore Adam Monich swiftly defeated Felipe Bellido and Nolan Polley of Wisconsin, 8-0 to advance to round three. They then faced Dmytro Ishtuganov and Neil Kenner of Indiana where they were knocked out of the competition, 8-3.
Tournament play will continue tomorrow at 10 a.m. for Rinks in the singles main draw.
