
Men's Tennis Wraps Up Second Day At ITA Regionals

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's tennis concluded the second day at the ITA Midwest Regional Championship on Friday in Ann Arbor, Mich., wrapping up the singles qualifying round and the first round in doubles action.
Freshmen John Allare competed in the second round of qualifiers for the singles main draw after knocking off Mike Shideler of Valparaiso yesterday to advance. Allare fell to James Low of Butler, 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles action, three teams represented MSU. Sophomores Adam Monich and Nick Rinks defeated the seventh seeded duo of Ryan Keckley and Eric Langenkamp of Notre Dame, 9-7, to advance to the second round. Also competing in the main draw were juniors Michael Flowers and Joseph McWilliams who fell to Matt Christian and Adam Schaechterle of Northwestern, 8-2. The final team in the action was the freshman duo of Scott Rassmussen and John Allare. They pulled out an 8-3 victory over Alexey Evstratenkov and Andrew Hoffman also of Northwestern.
The main draw in singles will begin tomorrow and the doubles competition will also continue.
