Michigan State Head Coach Joanne P. McCallie:
Opening Statement:
"The people who were great were the three (players) sitting next to me (Lindsay Bowen, Liz Shimek and Aisha Jefferson), especially in the last five minutes of the game. It was a marvelous finish to a very good game. Their defensive pressure and the plays made down the stretch were exceptional."
On the play of Victoria Lucas-Perry:
"She's a great leader and a tough person mentally. I'm not at all surprised (with her play) and it came at a great time. She's a special person."
On stopping Samantha Mahoney:
"The guards did an exceptional job of trying to play her correctly and they stayed focused on that. She's a great player and I thought our team defense was solid."
On the depth of her team:
"Laura Hall did an excellent job. She provided us with a spark as did the other players coming off the bench. We're a balanced team who is fighting hard and having fun."
On her game against Kentucky:
"We definitely came into this game with a sense of urgency. My teammates recognized the mismatch I was in and they kept going to me. That's what got me the points."
On her team's play down the stretch:
"We really had a different focus in the last five minutes. We were physical inside and didn't give (Kentucky) easy looks at the basket."
On gaining a rebounding edge:
"Kentucky is a very physical team. We located Aisha (Jefferson) in a mismatch and we kept going to her. In the first half, Kentucky got a lot of offensive boards, but we definitely limited them in the second half."
