MSU Head Coach Joanne P. McCallie:
Opening statement...
"There sure have been some exciting games at Breslin. There was really just some nice play - again, leadership from Lindsay Bowen. She really was physically guarded tonight and she kept finding ways to create for herself. I think the rebounding by our guards as a whole was excellent - Victoria (Lucas-Perry) with 10, Lindsay (Bowen) with nine and Rene (Haynes) with eight. They completed outrebounded Iowa, and our post players. That is something to be really proud and to build on. It was an overall team game. Aisha Jefferson was always a threat, she was always attacking. I thought Maggie Dwyer, in her time, was outstanding, she had five rebounds. I thought Laura Hall was solid off the bench. There was just a little something from everyone."
On Iowa's comeback...
"Defensively, we only shot 39 percent in the second half and that opened the window for them to make a run. We should have done a better job there because we had some great offensive rebounds, but we rushed them back up. I think if we had taken our time on those offensive rebounds, we could have dictated a different kind of tempo. They hit big shots in the second half to make it a ball game. It was a great test of character, grit, courage. They did have a pretty good look at the end, but I was happy with the way we were matched up. I did like the contest that Liz gave at the end, that ball was not going in."
On the seniors...
"I'm thrilled for Lindsay Bowen. We really want this to continue - we want Lindsay to set the record, and then Liz to break it, and then Lindsay to reset the record and continue down this path until the end of the season. What Lindsay and Liz have done for this program, for Michigan State, for this community - I can't even tell you. They are just amazing people."
