
MSU Swimmers Set For U.S. Open

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Nine Michigan State swimmers have met event time standards and will compete at the 2006 U.S. Open from Nov. 30 - Dec. 2. The Spartans will face top competition from across the nation, including Olympians and U.S. National team members. The meet will be hosted by Purdue University and will be held at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind. Heats will begin each day 9:30 a.m., with finals scheduled for 6 p.m.
The MSU women will be represented by sophomore Heather Kiluk (Libertyville, Ill.) and freshman Sasha Lewerenz (Rochester, Mich.). The men's team will have seven swimmers competing: Gabe Strickler (Midland, Mich.), Jonathan LaRocque (Bay City, Mich.), Krzysztof Olszewski (Torun, Poland), Adam Schmitt (Grand Haven, Mich.), Jason Vadney (Taylor Mill, Ky.), Marcus Poteete (Santa Cruz, Calif.), and Sho Koba (Ann Arbor, Mich.).
The U.S. Open is one of three domestic meets that USA Swimming sanctions each year. Swimmers will compete at the 50-meter or Olympic distance.
All-session passes are on sale for $25 for adults and $15 for students and children by calling the Purdue Athletic Ticket Office at (765) 494-3194 or (800) 497-7678. Individual session tickets will be available at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center on the day of the event. Tickets for preliminaries are $4 for adults and $3 for students and children. Finals tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and children.
