Eelens advanced to the quarterfinals of singles flight four, after defeating Dori Losonczy of Indiana State (6-1, 6-3). In her first match as a Spartan, Christine Milliken was bested by Christina Oum of Illinois-Chicago (6-2, 6-1).
In doubles flight one, Andrews and Milosavljevic teamed up to defeat Mariana Spilica and Danielle Mousseau of Minnesota (9-8, 6) in the second round of play, before falling to Alexis Conill and Suzie Matzenauer of Northwestern (8-2) in the quarterfinals.
In the second flight of doubles, Eelens and Milliken advanced to the semifinal round after winning both Friday matches. The duo defeated Kim Roberts and Erin Jobe of Wisconsin, 8-1, in the first round and continued their success in the quarterfinal round, defeating Emily Dudzik and Milica Zivanovic of Western Michigan, 9-7. Also in the second flight, Kebler and Schnitzer were defeated, 8-3, by Kelly Hamm and Fadzai Masiyazi of Indiana State.
"Overall, we had a good day," said head coach Erica Perkins. "Marianne Eelens and Christine Milliken had a great run in doubles. There were a few matches that looking back could have swung the other way had we executed a little better, however I think, top to bottom, we learned a lot, and we are hungry to play tomorrow."
The Spartans will continue action in the Wildcat Invitational at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
