MSU Head Coach Rick Comley
Opening statement...
"It was frustrating in a lot of ways, and a great game in a lot of ways. The crowd was unbelievable and the atmosphere was electric. Obviously, the (disallowed) goal was in, but the replay camera is probably the only one that you couldn't really 100 percent conclusively tell it was in. That would have been a big one, and the long delay in reviewing it certainly took momentum away from us, and I thought we got a little bit frustrated. All-in-all, it was an exciting, good hockey game."
On what this tie means...
"We're so close as teams, and you almost think every time we play that it's going to be an overtime game. That's what it looks like because that's how even these teams are. But at home, you're disappointed with a tie, bottom line."
On MSU's success on the penalty-kill...
"We did a real good job killing penalties tonight. Jeff (Lerg) has a real ability to see the puck through traffic, and we didn't even let that much get to him. Both teams killed penalties very well, but it was tough to get pucks to the net and get scoring chances."
Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On the atmosphere in Munn Arena...
"It's good to see it like this. Obviously we're the big rival, and its good to see this environment. That's how it should be every night. They've got a good team and they're having a good season and you'd like to think they're going to get the support you need."
On Michigan State's disallowed goal...
"I think we might have gotten lucky. I heard that goal might have gone in or did go in according to the TV replay. Maybe we were lucky but never the less it was a one-goal game and somebody will get a break or not get a break and maybe we got the break."
MSU Sophomore Chris Mueller
On his emotions following the tie... "A tie's not good enough our own building, especially against Michigan. We don't like them and they don't like us. The rivalry, the way it is, a tie is almost like kissing your sister."
On the need to get wins...
"With the way the league, you need two points every night. Every point is critical and we need to get two points every night."
MSU Freshman Goaltender Jeff Lerg
On containing Michigan's offense... "They're such a high powered offense. On the penalty kill we did a good job of blocking shots and keeping shots to the outside. "
On Hensick's chance in overtime... "The player that shot the puck from the point kind of whiffed it and all of the sudden the puck's on Hensick's stick in front of the net. He chipped and I thought the game was over, but I looked at him and he wasn't celebrating."
MSU Senior Centerman David Booth
On the game tie...
"I don't want to be negative but it was a bad tie, I think we could have won."
On what to bring for tomorrows game...
"You get motivated every time you play these guys, we just need to come out stronger for tomorrow and not accept this tie and get two points tomorrow."
On the game misconduct...
"I should have never done that, I take the blame, just sitting there, I wanted to be on the ice so bad but I have to learn from that, I have to keep my cool to be a good hockey player."
