Michigan State Head Coach Joanne McCallie
"A very interesting game in a lot of ways. I thought it was a great battle. I thought Wisconsin played superbly. We didn't do a very good job of taking away any of the players that we hoped to slow down for them. I loved the fight of our team. I thought Aisha Jefferson, our freshman, was maybe the difference maker in the game. It's always nice if a freshman comes in and can be such a difference maker, and she really was. We've got a lot of growing to do. Obviously we've got some resting to do. We've been playing a lot of games and it's kind of like a WNBA team, I guess, but we definitely need to get our legs back under us and get ready and focus for a very tough battle ahead in Minnesota."
Once her team got down by nine, what did they talk about as far as the intensity on the press?
"Shot contesting. Wisconsin hit some long and very big shots and particularly shots with one second left on the shot clock. We just talked about it's time to grow up and get some stops here - stops that we did not do even last game out. And so for us it's just a process -- a process to get better and to grow as a team with each experience, I guess. They're all interesting, that's for sure."
What were her impressions of Wisconsin's defense?
"They were hungry and scrappy. I thought they did a great job. They were up. They played more man than I actually thought they would. I know they play some zone, but I just thought they did a great job They got up, they denied, they were aggressive, they hustled. We didn't get too many assists. I think they did a great job, because 10 assists is very poor."
