* Michigan State advanced to the championship game of the Big Ten Tournament for the first time in school history. MSU had been 0-3 in semifinals games (1994, 1997 and 2004).
* Michigan State improved to 27-3 overall, extending its school record for victories in a season.
* MSU won its 11th straight game, tying the school record for consecutive victories set during the 1977 season.
* Michigan State won for just the fourth time in 25 meetings against Penn State, and it was MSU's first win against the Lady Lions outside of East Lansing.
* Michigan State shot 56 percent from the field (28-of-50), which was the third-best performance of the season for the Spartans. MSU also shot 54.5 percent from 3-point range and 84 percent from the free throw line.
* MSU had a 26-25 rebounding edge vs. the Lady Lions. MSU has been outrebounded just three times all season.
* Michigan State had 18 assists and just 13 turnovers. MSU has had more assists than turnovers in eight of its last nine games.
* Kelli Roehrig scored a team-high 19 points for MSU and pulled down a game-high seven rebounds. She is averaging 17 points and nine rebounds at the Big Ten Tournament.
* Kristin Haynie had 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals for MSU. She now ranks sixth in Big Ten history with 325 career steals, and is just one shy of a a tie for fifth and two shy of a tie for third.
* Liz Shimek had 18 points and four assists for MSU, while Lindsay Bowen added 10 points. MSU is now 17-0 this season when at least four players score in double figures.
* Lindsay Bowen had three 3-pointers, moving her career total to 208 which is 10 shy of the MSU record.
* Bowen's 3-pointer at the buzzer gave MSU a 42-40 halftime lead. MSU is now 24-1 when leading at the half.
* Penn State's 40 first-half points were the most allowed by MSU in the first half this season. Penn State shot 64 percent in the opening period.
