
Four Former Spartan Golfer Competing At LPGA Qualifying School

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Four former members of the Michigan State women's golf team are competing at LPGA Qualifying School Nov. 30-Dec. 4 in Daytona Beach, Fla. Becky Iverson, Allison Fouch, Sarah Martin, and Stacy Snider are looking to finish in the top-24 to gain exempt status on the LPGA Tour for the 2006 season. Another Spartan, Emily Bastel, has earned exempt status for next season by way of finishing 80th on the 2005 LPGA money list.
Iverson was the 1987 Michigan Women's Amateur champion. She was also a National Golf Coaches Association Academic All-American in 1987. Iverson joined the LPGA Tour in 1994 and has earned more than 1.3 million dollars in her career.
Fouch earned All-Big Ten recognition on three occasions while at MSU. She competed in the 2002 World University Games. In 2004, she was an All-America Honorable Mention.
Martin was second-team All-Big Ten in 2004 and competed in the World University Games that same year. In 2003 she won the 87th Michigan Women's Amateur.
Snider owns the fourth-lowest average in MSU history at (77.43). She was named to the All-Big Ten team in 2001 and 2002. It the summer of 2000, Snider was the champion at the 84th Michigan Women's Amateur.
Bastel was a four-time All-Big Ten selection while at Michigan State. In her senior season she was honored as Big Ten Golfer of Year and she was named second team All-America.
