As the men's tennis Big Ten Indoor Championships continued on Sunday in East Lansing, one Spartan, sophomore Nick Rinks, continued play and advanced to the quarterfinals, before suffering a loss.
Rinks came into the day with two victories under his belt from the previous day's first and second rounds of the main draw. In his first match of the day, Rinks faced Raoul Schwark of Minnesota and floated to a 6-2, 6-2 decision that would advance him to the quarterfinals. Rinks then went on to battle Nolan Polley of Wisconsin. After a tough first set tiebreaker that went to Polley, Rinks dropped out of the competition with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 loss.
Big Ten singles action will continue tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the Indoor Tennis Facility. Semifinals and finals will be played for both the main draw and the consolation draw. Admission is free to the event.
