* The all-time series is now tied 24-24. MSU has won four of the last five meetings and has won three straight at Assembly Hall.
* Michigan State is now 16-2, extending the best start in school history. The Spartans are 6-1 in road games.
* MSU held Illinois to 42 points, matching the lowest point total allowed by MSU since the season opener against Central Connecticut State (77-42) Nov. 20. It was also the fewest points scored this season by Illinois.
* MSU also equaled opponent season lows for rebounds (24) and assists (6).
* The 20-point margin of victory was the largest in a game for MSU since an 85-57 victory over Vermont Dec. 21.
* MSU outrebounded Illinois, 41-24. The Spartans have been outrebounded just once all season.
* Kristin Haynie became MSU's career assist leader in the first half. She fininshed with six assists to give her 466 for her career, breaking Chris Powers' record of 460. Haynie also had 10 points, six rebounds and five steals.
* Kelli Roehrig had her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Roehrig's five double-doubles equal her total from her first three seasons combined.
* Lindsay Bowen scored 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range. She moved into 11th place in MSU history with 1,077 career points.
* Liz Shimek had just eight points, but in the process went over the 900-point mark for her career. With 902 points, Shimek and Haynie (983) are poised to become the third and fourth MSU players to reach 1,000 points this season.
* Katrina Grantham scored a career-high six points off the bench, while equaling a career high with 14 minutes played.
