Snider Wins Michigan PGA Women's Open Championship

THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. - Former Spartan Stacy Snider (1999-2002) captured the 2004 Michigan PGA Women's Open on Wednesday, July 28. The two-time All-Big honoree won the tournament on the first hole of a playoff with Amy Malinaric.
"I was playing well all week," Snider said who finished the tournament at 6-under 210. "I have hit the ball well all summer, and I made some putting changes and they started to go in. My game is pretty close to where I want it to be right now."
MSU head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll was the low amateur, finished tied for seventh with a 217 (73-71-73).
Former Spartan Sue Ertl (1976-79) finished tied for 14th with a 222 (71-77-74), while Joan Garety (1975-78) placed tied for 23rd with a 226 (73-72-81).
Among the current Spartans competing, sophomore Heather Rose (Chillicothe, Ohio) finished tied for 26th with a 228 (75-77-76). Red-shirt freshman Kristen Polanski (Livonia, Mich.), moved up six more spots to finish tied for 29th, with a 229 (80-75-74).
Rounding our the Spartan line-up are juniors Jennifer Johnson (Okemos, Mich.) and Christy Jonkhoff (Traverse City, Mich.), who finished tied for 34th and 38th, respectively. Johnson shot a 234 (76-78-80), while Jonkhoff finished with a 237 (73-81-83).
