Vermont head coach Sharon Dawley:
"Overall, I guess we lost by quite a bit. Our goal was to come here and prepare for our league play. We knew coming in here we were playing way up, a little over our heads; but that is what you do when you try to get your players ready and confident for their own conference play. I think we did that in some areas tonight and we didn't in others. One area we were satisfied with tonight was 10 turnovers against tremendous pressure. I was very happy with having low turnovers tonight. That is one of our lowest actually. Positive for us, I thought, was Katie McNamara. She performed very well for us. That was one of her better games. Unfortunately, we lost her at the end with a sprained ankle but I was very satisfied with her, along with another senior, Lani Boardman. You get down by that much, and you could just pack up to come home, but we didn't. We competed to the end. My hat's off to the kids for doing that. Obviously to come on the road and get killed is frustrating, but I told my kids in the lockerroom we can find mini victories, and I found that in Katie's game and Lani's game, playing until the very end and low turnovers."
Michigan State head coach Joanne P. McCallie
"First off, I just want to say this was such a great opportunity for our kids to play in front of 11,000+ fans tonight. We really appreciate this crowd and the doubleheader. With 20 offensive rebounds and 20 assists, we have some numbers that are good, but some we need to improve on as well. I loved the leadership of our super four: Kelli, Lindsay, Kristen and Liz. I should have played Kristin Haynie a little more as she was close to a triple double. Kristin is such a player and I want people to appreciate her as a senior, because there aren't too many guards like her, especially with her quickness and her ability to disrupt games. It was great to see Lindsay get back on track after her injury. She gave what she could in the Corpus Christi game, but she was back today. There was some bench play that helped us a little bit, Laura Hall was impressive and she will see more playing time. We're getting better, but what we really have to do is have a nice break and somehow come back better and more ready for our game against Connecticut on Dec. 29."
