* Michigan State improved to 3-0 for the second straight season and third time in the last four years.
* MSU is now 1-1 vs. Utah. The teams had not played since 1977.
* Kristin Haynie scored the last six points for MSU, including the winning basket with 2.2 seconds left, to finish with 12 points.
* Liz Shimek had a team-high 15 points and has led MSU in scoring in all three games this season. Twelve of Shimek's points came in the second half.
* Haynie and Shimek are the only two Spartans to score in double figures in every game this season.
* Haynie hit two free throws with 22.6 seconds left and MSU clinging to a one-point lead. Although she missed a free throw with 2.2 seconds left, she is 38-43 during her career at the line in the final two minutes plus overtime of close games (margin in single digits).
* Kelli Roehrig had a season-high nine rebounds, and added six points, four assists and two blocks.
* Maggie Dwyer had five rebounds in 10 minutes in the first half.
* Myisha Bannister had a career-high three blocks in just 10 minutes.
* Michigan State held a 38-31 rebounding edge and has now outrebounded all three of its opponents.
