· Michigan State won the Spartan Classic title for the 10th time in 17 years and the second year in a row. MSU is 27-7 all-time in the Spartan Classic.
· Kristin Haynie was named tournament MVP after averaging 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals and 3.5 assists in two games. Haynie shot 57.9 percent from the field and hit all eight of her free throws during the tournament.
· Haynie's 11 steals in the two games were a new tournament record. The previous record 10 set by Maria Rivera from Miami (Ohio) in 1986.
· Liz Shimek had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament team by averaging 17.5 points, 9.5 boards and 3.0 blocks. Shimek's 19 points tied her career high set vs. Purdue Jan. 6, 2003, and it was her 12th career double-double. Her four blocks in today's game were also a new career high.
· Kelli Roehrig was also named to the All-Tournament team after averaging 14.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in the two games. She had 14 points and three blocks in today's game, and made the first two baskets in overtime.
· Michigan State has now won its last three overtime games. The Spartans were 2-0 in overtime last season, winning at Northwestern (67-57) and Indiana (60-51). It was MSU's first home overtime victory since an 87-73 win over Notre Dame Dec. 21, 1995.
· The victory was the 10th over a nationally-ranked opponent during head coach Joanne P. McCallie's five seasons at MSU.
· Lindsay Bowen scored 12 points in today's game, giving her 46 career double-figure scoring games, and she has now made at least one 3-point basket in 58 of her 62 career games played.
· The game featured 18 ties and 19 lead changes.
· MSU owned a 42-41 edge on the boards and a 40-34 advantage in points in the paint.
· MSU committed just 11 turnovers in 45 minutes. The Spartans had 22 turnovers in yesterday's win against Central Connecticut State.
· Michigan State had five players in double figures, including 10 point by Rene Haynes.
