Men's Soccer Ties Rutgers In Exhibition Game

FT. WAYNE, Ind. - The Michigan State men's soccer team tied Rutgers, 1-1, in a Friday night exhibition contest at the 2003 IPFW Soccer Showcase in Ft. Wayne, Ind. The Spartans will return to action on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. EDT against Kentucky in the final game of the exhibition tournament.
Michigan State got on the scoreboard first when Kellen Kalso (Oxford) converted on a penalty kick at 41:27. The Spartans held the lead for most of the second half until Rutgers tied the game with a goal in the 81st minute.
Mike Robinson (Troy) got the start in goal for the Spartans, stopping six shots. Rutgers outshot the Spartans, 16-11. It was a physical game with five yellow cards and two red cards.
