Men's Golf Places 14th At Oregon Duck Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. - The Michigan State men's golf team finished 14th out of 16 teams Tuesday (March 25) at the Oregon Duck Invitational, held at the Eugene Country Club.
The Spartans carded a final round of 303 Tuesday, which gave them a three-round tournament score of 898 (302-293-303). Arizona and Washington each carded a 6-under tournament score of 858 and were named co-champions. Oregon's John Ellis and Washington's Brock Mackenzie both earned medallist honors, as they each finished 9-under par for the tournament. Rain and standing water prevented any playoff.
Michigan State was led by junior Casey Lubahn (Sand Lake, Mich.), who fired a team-best 73 for the day and finished with a three-round score of 221 (75-73-73) to place tied for 28th overall. Senior All-American Eric Jorgensen (Big Rapids, Mich.) finished one shot behind Lubahn, as he recorded a score of 222 (74-73-75) for the tournament.
Junior Ben Fox (Fort Wayne, Ind.) shot a final round score of 76, and finished with a final tournament score of 223 (74-73-76). Fellow junior J.J. Beckstrom (North Muskegon, Mich.) finished the tournament with a score of 235 (79-74-82), while sophomore Andrew Ruthkoski (Muskegon, Mich.) finished with a final tournament score of 238 (82-77-79).
The Spartans return to action April 12-13 at the Kepler Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
