EAST LANSING, Mich. - Head coach Gene Orlando has announced the men's tennis team will not participate in this weekend's Toledo Rocket Invitational. Many of his student-athletes have conflicts with exams and classes that have factored in the team's decision. Also, with six Spartans participating in the ITA Region IV tournament Oct. 24-27, Orlando made the event a team tournament, causing only a limited number of players eligible to compete in Toledo.
The Green and White will now prepare for the Big Ten Indoor Singles Championships, hosted by the University of Minnesota, Nov. 16-18. Sophomore Andrew Formanczyk (Rochester Hills, Mich.) advanced to the Sweet Sixteen at the Region IV tournament while senior Adam Hourani (Lansing, Mich.) and sophomore Cameron Marshall (Louisville, Ky.) lead the Spartans in singles wins with six.
