Men's Tennis Concludes Minnesota Invitational With Doubles Wins

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - With the Michigan State men's tennis team putting a lot of emphasis on doubles this season, the Spartans completed the Minnesota Invitational by picking up two victories over host Minnesota Sunday (Oct. 13), ending the tournament with six total doubles wins.
Seniors Adam Hourani (Lansing, Mich.) and Jimmy McGuire (Columbus, Ohio) topped Clay Estes and Manuel Lievano, 9-8, for their second win of the weekend. Sophomore Anthony Stefani (Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.) and freshman Mike Brown (Portage, Mich.) also scooped up win number two with a 9-7 victory over Eric Robertson and Steve Solberg.
Earlier in the morning, the Golden Gophers swept the Spartans in all six singles matches. Minnesota finished last season ranked No. 22 in the country.
Michigan State will take ten days off before returning to the courts Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Omni Hotels Region IV Tournament in Madison, Wisc.
