EAST LANSING, Mich. - The 23rd-ranked Michigan State women's gymnastics team fell to No. 1 UCLA, 195.475-194.000 on Sunday, March 11 in Jenison Field House. UCLA, coming off a win at No. 8 Michigan on Friday night, dominated from the beginning of the meet. The Bruins' Mohini Bhardwaj scored a perfect 10.0 on the uneven bars in the first rotation for UCLA.
"The team performed like they were tired and we are very disappointed in the performance," said MSU head coach Kathie Klages. "We will come back next week and go strong, looking to get a better score for our RQS (regional qualifying score).
"Jane McIntosh competed out of her mind today," Klages continued. "I'm very impressed with what she did today. She has been so consistent for us."
Junior Jane McIntosh (Concord, Mich.) won the balance beam with a score of 9.925. She also tied for top honors on the floor exercise with a season-high tying 9.900. Sophomore Christy Linder (Fremont, Ohio) tied for first on floor (9.900) and was third in the all-around (38.675). Senior Elisabeth Forshier (South St. Paul, Minn.) took third on the vault tying her season high of 9.825.
The Spartans return to competition next Saturday, March 17 against Missouri in Jenison Field House at 7 p.m. in their final home competition of the year.
