Women's Gymnastics Victorious Over Bowling Green State

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Michigan State women's gymnastics team defeated Bowling Green on Sunday, Feb. 11, 195.075-194.700. With the victory, MSU rebounded from a 195.550-193.975 setback against Ohio State on Feb. 9, and improved its overall record to 6-3.
Leading the Spartans was sophomore Julie Devaty (North Olmsted, Ohio). Devaty placed first on the balance beam with a score of 9.875, setting a career-high on the beam for a second-straight meet.
MSU took four of the top-five places on uneven bars and was led by sophomore Diana Crea (Beaver Falls, Pa.), who placed second with a 9.825. Sophomore Christy Linder (Fremont, Ohio) finished third with a season-high tying 9.800. Linder was followed by Devaty, who took third with a 9.750, and sophomore Kristina Petersen (Saginaw, Mich.), who scored 9.725 in a fourth-place performance.
Senior Lori Ruane (Granger, Ind.) was MSU's top scorer on the floor, tying for second with a career-high tying 9.900.
On the vault, senior Elisabeth Forshier (South St. Paul, Minn.) placed third with a season-high 9.800.
The Spartans return to action Saturday, Feb. 17 (7 p.m.), at the Fox Run Invitational, hosted by New Hampshire. The meet will include UNH, MSU, Texas Women's University and Northern Illinois.
