Two Second-Half Goals Down Women's Soccer

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State scored first, but could not hold on as the Spartan women's soccer team (7-7-2, 4-5-1) was defeated by Michigan (10-5-1, 8-2), 2-1, in Ann Arbor, Mich. The game was the last Big Ten contest of the season for the Spartans.
Kristi Arrington (So., Novi, Mich.) put the Spartans on top early as she scored at the 5:42 mark on an assist from Tiffany Laskowski (So., Troy, Mich.). This marked the fourth-straight game in which Arrington had scored a goal. Despite being outshot 10-5 in the first half, MSU took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
About 20 minutes into the second half, Michigan tied the game as Abby Crumpton found the back of the net at the 64:23 mark. Kate Morgan and Theresa Dwyer assisted on the goal. The game remained tied until the 82nd minute when Crumpton scored again, this time off an assist from Kleinholz. In the second half, MSU could manage just one shot.
Michigan State returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. at Detroit Mercy.
