EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team defeated Western Michigan Wednesday afternoon at Old College Field by a score of 4-0. With the victory, MSU improves to 9-3-1 whIle Western falls to 5-9.
State started the scoring in the 32nd minute when Jeff Krass (So., Brighton) scored off a pass in front from Anders Kelto (Sr., Traverse City). The Spartans made it 2-0 just over six minutes later when Thomas Trivelloni (So., Mt. Clemens) scored, Nick DeGraw (Jr., Clinton Twp.) drew the lone assist.
In the second half, DeGraw found the back of the net on a penalty kick in the 56th minute. MSU closed out the scoring in the 66th minute when Brett Konley (Jr., Plymouth) scored his sixth goal of the season. Konley is now has six goals and is tied for the team lead with Trivelloni.
Goalkeeper Mike Robinson (So., Troy) played 69 minutes and made two saves for the shutout. Tyler Robinson (Jr., Lansing) played the remainder of the game and made four saves.
"I was happy with the way we played today," MSU coach Joe Baum said. "We had a business-like attitude today and not a lot of emotion. We worked hard, created chances and finished. We did what we had to do to win."
MSU travels to Wisconsin, Sunday, Oct. 28, to take on the Badgers at 2 p.m. EST in their final regular season conference game of the year.
