-- MSU played without senior forward Becky Cummings. Cummings, who suffered a torn plantar fascia against Eastern Michigan on Dec. 3, reaggravated her injury in practice on Wednesday and did not make the trip. Cummings is averaging 11.8 points and 6.3 rebounds.
-- The Spartans held Purdue to almost 20 points below their season scoring average. The Boilermakers entered the game averaging 75.4 points, but MSU held Purdue to just 57 points - 18.4 points below their season average.
-- MSU's 34 points was the third lowest point total in school history. The Spartans scored just 30 points on Jan. 17, 1976 in a 56-30 loss to Grand Valley and also tallied just 31 points in a 38-31 loss to Eastern Michigan on Jan. 30, 1973.
-- Freshman forward Julie Pagel just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Pagel has scored in double figures for five straight games.
-- The Spartans shot a season-low 30 percent from the free throw line. MSU connected on just 3-of-10 attempts from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, Purdue shot 70.6 percent (12-of-17) from the free throw line.
