Men's Tennis Finish Competition at the Indoor Championships

East Lansing, Mich. - The Spartans ended competition at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. Freshman, Chris Mitchell (Ann Arbor, Mich.), advanced the furthest in the consolation round of the competition. With a hometown crowd cheering him on Mitchell defeated Damon Accardi of Penn State in a hard fought three set match (5-7, 6-2, 7-6(5)). Mitchell was then defeated by no. 9 ranked Ian Arons of Indiana (7-5, 6-4).
Other Spartans in competition were Freshman Eric Simonton and Sophomore Adam Hourani. Simonton and Hourani were both defeated early in the days competition, Simonton by Dan McCain of University of Michigan (6-1, 7-6(6)), and Hourani by Tyson Parry of Minnesota (7-5, 6-4).
The Spartans next compete on Saturday January 20, 2001 at the Michigan State Indoor Tennis Facility. At 10 a.m. the Spartans face off against Toledo and at 4 p.m. Wright State.
