Women's Swimming Defeated by Michigan And Texas

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - In their first away meet of the season, the Michigan State women's swimming and diving team lost to 10th ranked Michigan and 11th ranked Texas this evening in Ann Arbor. The Spartans suffered a 202-91 loss to the Wolverines, and scored 72 points against Texas' 227. Texas defeated Michigan as well, winning with a score of 168-132. MSU drops to 1-2 for the season.
Spartan junior Ildiko Szekely (Budapest, Hungary) provided Michigan State's only first place finish in the swim events, finishing with a time of 2:04.72 in the 200 butterfly. Also greatly contributing to the Spartan effort was junior diver Carly Weiden (Kentwood, Mich.), placing first in the one-meter with a final score of 263.25, followed by sophomore Summer Mitchell (Troy, Mich.) scoring 262.30 to place second.
The swimmers break for one week before heading to South Bend November 30th to December 2nd for the Notre Dame Invitational.
