Men's Soccer Upsets Penn State, 2-0

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team won their third straight game Sunday, downing Penn State by a score of 2-0. The Spartans now improve to 8-5-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in the Big Ten.
The Spartans took an early lead, just 5:20 into the game, when Jeffrey Krass (Fr., Brighton) scored his second goal of the year, unassisted. The game remained scoreless as the teams battled back and forth until the 59th minute when John Benoist (Sr., St. Louis, MO) converted on his third out of three attempted corner kicks on the season to make the score 2-0.
The Spartans' keeper T.J. Lieckfelt (Sr., Sterling Heights) made six saves in the victory and earned his 3.5 shutout of the season.
The Spartans next game will take place this Wednesday, Oct. 25 when they travel to Kalamazoo to take on Western Michigan at 3 p.m.
