Men's Soccer Defeats Loyola-Chicago, 2-1

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team defeated Loyola-Chicago on Wednesday, Oct. 11 by a score of 2-1 in overtime, in Chicago. The win, was the Spartans first in OT this year. The Spartans are now 6-5-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in the BIg Ten.
Loyola struck early in the first half in the 16th minute on a goal that would stand the rest of the half. The Spartans got on the board at the 71:11 mark when Jeffrey Krass (Fr., Brighton) tied the score at 1-1. In overtime, MSU's Steve Williford (Sr., Livonia) netted the game winner, on an assist from Craig Hearn (Fr., Farmington Hills), with just :48 left to give the Spartans their first overtime victory of the year.
The Spartans out-shot Loyola by a count of 14-6.
The Spartans next game will be Sunday, Oct. 15 when they travel to Ann Arbor to take on in-state rival Michigan at 3:30 p.m.
