EAST LANSING, MICH - The Michigan State men?s soccer team (3-1-1) defeated Saint Mary?s (1-5), 2-1, in a non-conference match-up on Friday, Sept. 17.
Junior Mike Trivelloni (Mount Clemens, Mich.) scored his first two goals of the season to lead the Spartans, scoring in the 13th and 16th minutes. For Saint Mary?s, Jon Gordon scored in the 49th minute, his second goal of the year. In a very physical game, there were 19 fouls committed and seven yellow cards issued- four to MSU. Junior goalkeeper Tim Lieckfelt (Sterling Heights, Mich.) recorded four saves on the afternoon to help the Spartans to their third consective win.
Michigan State returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 19 to face the 23rd-ranked California Golden Bears in Berkeley, Calif.
