CAREER NOTES: Two-year letterwinner made the position switch to fullback in 2024 after spending his first two seasons on defense as a defensive end . . . has played in 15 games (three in 2023, 12 in 2024) . . . two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
2024 SEASON (REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE): Played in all 12 games to earn his second letter, seeing action on offense (37 snaps at fullback) and special teams (79 snaps) . . . played a season-high 11 snaps on offense vs. Rutgers . . . had one catch for 12 yards, his first catch as a Spartan, in Prairie View A&M game . . . played 10 snaps on offense in road win at Maryland in Week 2.
2023 SEASON (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Played in four games (Washington, Ohio State, Indiana, Penn State) to earn his first letter . . . played 12 snaps on special teams and four snaps on defense . . . Academic All-Big Ten selection.
2022 SEASON: Redshirted.
HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL DATA: Earned all-league honors . . . helped IMG Academy Varsity White to a 10-0 regular-season record, losing in the second round of the playoffs to finish 11-1 . . . was part of an Ascender defense that only yielded 96 points all season (8.7 ppg), including five shutouts, highlighted by posting three shutouts in their first four games of the season . . . led the team with 18 tackles for loss, while finishing second on the team with 4.5 total sacks, as well as third on the team with both 39 total tackles and 3.5 tackles per game, in addition to sharing the team lead with one fumble recovery . . . named IMG Academy Co-Defensive Player of the Game for his performance in Ascenders’ 42-8 win over AA Christian Academy, as well as for IMG’s wins over Calvary Christian and American Heritage (Delray) . . . played first three seasons at Bronxville High School in Bronxville, New York, playing defensive end, linebacker and tight end . . . food industry management major . . . son of Edward Coyne and Kelly Donovan.
