2011 Four-year letterwinner closed his career as the program's all-time hits leader with 261 . . . started every game in center field his final three seasons (164 consecutive starts) . . . also finished his career ranked second at MSU in runs scored with 158 . . . drafted in the 32nd round of the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Detroit Tigers.
2011 (SENIOR): Posted one of the best seasons in the 127-year history of Spartan baseball in 2011 and helped lead Michigan State to its first Big Ten title since 1979 . . . a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection, won the conference batting crown with his .379 average and set an MSU single-season record with 96 hits . . . became just the second Spartan to win a Big Ten batting title for overall games . . . also a dynamic defensive player, made countless highlight catches in center field and was voted by his teammates as the Defensive Player of the Year . . . named the recipient of two major athletic awards at Michigan State: the Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor, which is presented to a male and female student-athlete at each conference institution for outstanding athletic and academic achievement, and the Chester Brewer Leadership Award, which is presented to a graduating senior in his or her last year of eligibility for distinguished performance in athletics and scholarship and for possessing a high degree of leadership qualities and skill; becomes just the second athlete at Michigan State to earn both of those awards in the same year, joining Everett Grandelius (1951) . . . off the field, was just as successful, as he was named a first-team Academic All-American for his 3.98 GPA in general business administration/pre-law . . . became just the third player in program history to earn Academic All-America honors twice in his career, as he was a third-team selection in 2010 . . . named team captain for the 2011 season and was a three-year member of the Michigan State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee . . . MSU's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2011 . . . named the 2011 Michigan Male College Athlete of the Year by the Detroit Athletic Club, which is presented annually to a student-athlete that performs at a high level athletically and academically, makes an impact in his/her community, and demonstrates leadership and sportsmanlike behavior . . . listed as one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award . . . named MVP of the Big Ten/Big East Challenge on Feb. 28.
2010 (JUNIOR): Started all 53 games in center field . . . hit a career-high .362, which ranked third on the team . . . led the team and ranked among MSU's single-season leaders in stolen bases (fourth with 22), hits (fifth with 81) and runs (seventh with 57) . . . had seven doubles and 28 RBIs . . . compiled a .412 on-base percentage . . . led the team with 25 multi-hit games and had a 13-game hitting streak during the season . . . only committed one error all season (131 putouts, two assists, .993 fielding percentage) . . . named a third-team Academic All-American, becoming the program's 11th Academic All-American and first since 2000 . . . was the team's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award . . . had a career game at the plate in the 26-11 win over Iowa (4/4), tying the Big Ten single-game record with six hits (6-for-7) . . . also had five RBIs and scored five runs, including a three-run homer, against the Hawkeyes . . . went 4-for-4 in MSU's 3-0 victory at Notre Dame (3/21).
2009 (SOPHOMORE): Started all 54 games in center field . . . finished the season with a .270 batting average, 17 RBIs and 13 stolen bases . . . his .993 fielding percentage was second among the Spartan starters . . . opened the season against Connecticut (2/20) with three hits and also had two RBIs and two stolen bases . . . hit his first career home run in game two of doubleheader against Northwestern (4/4) as he went 2-for-5 and added a double in a 9-4 victory . . . started a career-long seven-game hitting streak with a 3-for-5 performance in a win over Penn State (5/1) . . . seven-game hitting streak ended with a 3-for-4 performance against Central Michigan (5/12) . . . went 2-for-4 and had the game-tying run in an 8-7 comeback win over Michigan (4/17).
2008 (FRESHMAN): Started 34 games and made 43 appearances . . . hit .278 in 108 at-bats . . . drove in four runs and went 2-for-5 with two runs scored vs. Missouri (2/23) . . . doubled in a run and scored vs. Illinois (3/29) . . . had two RBIs in a 2-for-3 performance vs. Western Michigan (4/9) . . . scored twice and had two hits vs. Oakland (4/30) and went 2-for-4 with a double the next game vs. Penn State (5/2) . . . doubled and stole a base vs. Penn State (5/4) . . . had three RBIs and three hits vs. Purdue (5/10) . . . made three pitching appearances in relief.
HIGH SCHOOL: Named first-team all-state after batting .570 with 40 runs and 36 stolen bases as a senior . . . also earned second-team all-state laurels as a junior . . . earned four varsity letters at Corunna for Coach Brian Osborn . . . led team to three conference championships and a two-year record of 35-23 . . . also played shortstop and served as team captain for two years . . . played one season at quarterback on the football team and lettered twice in basketball.
