Kieft Earns All-America Honors, Leads CRCA Scholar All-Americans

Senior rower Maddie Kieft (Ypsilanti, Mich) has earned Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) All-America honors for the second straight season. Â The coaches association also released their list of Scholar All-Americans on Friday.Â

Kieft earned First Team All-Big Ten honors – marking her second selection as both an All-Big Ten and All-American performer. Keift has been a mainstay in the varsity eight over her last two seasons, helping the Spartans elevate to a fifth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships as a junior. Earlier this spring, she also shattered MSU's all-time 2,000 meter erg record this spring – a record which has stood since 1998.Â

In addition to the All-Americans, the CRCA also released its list of Scholar All-Americans, which requires being in an NCAA boat (first or second varsity eight or varsity four) as well as a 3.50 GPA and at least a sophomore in terms of athletic eligibility Kieft, a Genomics and Molecular Genetics major, is joined on the list of MSU honorees by Jillian Cox (Psychology), Lillian Davidson-Walshe (Economics), Kate Heinecke (Biosystems Engineering), Alaina Roush (Finance), Ugne Rudaityte (Human Biology), Susie Schulz (Kinesiology), Ruby VandenBoom (Interior Design) and Ava Woodard (Urban and Regional Planning).Â
