McCulloch and Bond in Top-10, Men’s Golf in Seventh Place at the Robert Kepler Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Two golfers are among the top-10 overall and Michigan State's men's golf team is in seventh place among 16 teams after the first day of play at the Robert Kepler Invitational, being played at Columbus Country Club in Ohio.
The Spartans are in seventh place at 1-under par 575 (293-282).
MSU struggled in the opening round with a 5-over par 293 and followed that up with a 6-under par 282 in the afternoon round, tied for the second-lowest of the second round.
Minnesota leads the field at 18-under par 558 (280-278), with host Ohio State second at 10-under par, Miami (Ohio) third at 9-under par 566, St. Thomas (Minn.) fourth at 8-under par 567 and Abilene Christian and Cal Poly tied for fifth place at 2-under par 574.
Senior Ashton McCulloch leads the Spartans, tied for third place at 5-under par 139 (72-67). McCulloch's second round score of 5-under par 67 is tied for the fifth-lowest of his career.
Joining McCulloch in the top-10 individually is senior Caleb Bond, who is tied for 10th place at 2-under par 142 (72-70). Bond carded a 2-under par 70 in the second round.
Sophomore Julian Menser and freshman Luke Mueller are tied for 57th place with scores of 3-over par 147, respectively. Menser posted scores of 1-over par 73 and 2-over par 74, while Mueller shot a 4-overp par 76 and closed with a 1-under par 71.
Junior Lorenzo Pinili is tied for 75th place at 8-over par 152 (76-76).
The two-day, 54-hole event concludes on Sunday. Michigan State tees off at 7:45 a.m. from the first hole, playing alongside South Dakota State and Michigan.
