Stewart-Barnett and Morlock Named Big Ten Athletes to Watch

EAST LANSING, Mich. -Â Prior to the start of the outdoor track & field season, the Big Ten announced that Kate Stewart-Barnett and Dillon Morlock were named Athletes to Watch.
Stewart-Barnett, who did not compete in indoor season, is ready to hit the track in outdoor season. Last season, Stewart-Barnett finished sixth in the 3000m steeplechase with a school record and personal best time of 9:33.21 at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She is the reigning Big Ten Champion Stewart-Barnett with a time of 9:36.96 set earlier this season. Stewart-Barnett captured first-team All-American honors for her efforts.
Morlock is fresh off All-American honors in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Morlock finished 10th to captured second-team All-American honors.  On his second attempt he threw 19.09m, which would be his longest attempt.
The Spartans open the outdoor season at the USF Alumni Invitational March 21-22 in Tampa, Florida.
