MSU Athletics Raises Record $4 Million-plus on Give Green Day

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Athletics raised $4,183,873 during MSU's 10th Annual Give Green Day. The total eclipsed the record set just one year ago, outpacing its overall fundraising for the day by 298%.
FOR SPARTA, a comprehensive capital initiative, was MSU Athletics' Give Green Day focus in 2026. Launched in December of this past year, FOR SPARTA is a bold vision to elevate facilities and enhance the student-athlete experience and opportunities across all sports. It accounted for $2,934,907 of the department's total funds raised.
"We are grateful to Spartans all over the world who supported our student-athletes and our vision for the future. Give Green Day is a testament to the true spirit of this university, showing how together, we can accomplish any challenge set in front of us," said Michigan State Vice President and Director of Athletics J Batt.
Over 1,440 donations, ranging from $1 to $1M to varying athletics designations, accounted for the day's result. It was a record-setting day for the university overall as MSU surpassed the $6M mark ($6,498,539) during the 24-hour period of giving.
"Give Green Day was the definition of a team effort. Thank you to our donors, staff and students who made today the unmitigated success that it was," commented Deputy AD for Development & Strategic Initiatives Tim House. "From prospecting and securing challenge gifts, to content creation and gift acknowledgments, our Spartan Fund team, partnered with Spartan Vision as well as our department's marketing, ticket, communications and coaching staffs, worked diligently to ensure today's outcome became a reality."
Give Green Day is Michigan State University's annual 24-hour fundraising event that supports initiatives across the university and helps advance Uncommon Will. Far Better World., Michigan State's comprehensive fundraising campaign focused on expanding opportunities for students, accelerating research and innovation and strengthening the university's global impact. FOR SPARTA is MSU Athletics' priority within the university's overall campaign.
