Wrestling to Conclude Dual Season Against Central Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State wrestling concludes the dual portion of its schedule this Friday, February 20 against intrastate rival Central Michigan at 7:00 p.m. inside Jenison Field House. MSU will honor four of its senior wrestlers following Friday's dual with Braden Stauffenberg, Ryan Boucher, DJ Shannon and Connor O'Neill competing inside Jenison for the final time. Friday's dual will stream on B1G+ with Eric Olanowski (Analyst) and Adam Nothstine (PxP) on the call.

MSU enters Friday with a 4-9 overall record after wrapping up Big Ten action with a 1-7 mark. Central Michigan is 9-6 this season and 0-1 against B1G opponents following an early-season 33-7 loss at Indiana.

The First Whistle
The NCAA released its second set of Coaches Rankings and its first RPI rankings of the season on February 12. Redshirt junior 197-pounder Kael Wisler is ranked #25 in the coaches rankings and redshirt junior heavyweight Josh Terrill is ranked #33. In the RPI, Wisler checks in at #21 and Terrill is #25. Redshirt freshman 157-pounder Darius Marines is #24 in the RPI but unranked in the coaches rankings.

Wisler is ranked #22 by FloWresting and #23 by InterMat, while redshirt sophomore 133-pounder Caleb Weiand checks in at #32 via FloWrestling.

MSU is 18-21 all-time against Central Michigan and has won four of the last six meetings with the Chippewas. CMU defeated Michigan State last season, 22-12, but the Spartans took three in a row from 2022-24.

Central has two ranked wrestlers in its lineup this week, featuring No. 21-ranked 157-pounder Mason Schrader and No. 29-ranked heavyweight Bryan Caves. Caves and Terrill faced off earlier this season with Caves winning by a 2-0 decision.
