Wrestling Resumes B1G Action Against Rutgers, Minnesota

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State wrestling returns to the mat this weekend with a pair of Big Ten duals. The Spartans will first host Rutgers at Jenison Field House on Friday, February 13 at 6:30 PM. MSU picks things back up on Sunday, February 15 when it travels to Minnesota for a 2:00 PM ET dual. Both duals will be streamed on B1G+ with Spartan wrestling alum Eric Olanowski and
Adam Nothstine on the call.
The Spartans enter the weekend with a record of 4-7 (1-5 B1G) and are coming off a loss to then No. 8-ranked Iowa last Sunday.
The First Whistle
The NCAA released its second set of Coaches Rankings and its first RPI rankings of the season on February 12. Redshirt junior 197-pounder Kael Wisler is ranked #25 in the coaches rankings and redshirt junior heavyweight Josh Terrill is ranked #33. In the RPI, Wisler checks in at #21 and Terrill is #25. Redshirt freshman 157-pounder Darius Marines is #24 in the RPI but unranked in the coaches rankings.
Wisler is ranked #23 by both InterMat and FloWresting, while redshirt sophomore 133-pounder Caleb Weiand checks in at #30 via FloWrestling.
MSU is 2-7-1 all-time against Rutgers, falling to the Scarlet Knights 28-7 in 2025. No. 14-ranked Rutgers is 11-5 overall and 4-3 in the Big Ten coming off 23-15 upset over then No. 6-ranked Minnesota at home last Friday. The Scarlet Knights have ranked wrestlers at nine weights entering the weekend led by No. 16-ranked Remy Cotton at 197 pounds.
Michigan State is 23-36 all-time against Minnesota and haven't seen the Golden Gophers in dual action since a 21-11 loss on January 15, 2023. No. 9-ranked Minnesota is 10-5 overall and 4-3 in Big Ten duals coming off a 37-6 win over Maryland on the road on Sunday, February 8. Minnesota has nine ranked wrestlers in their projected starting lineup led by No. 4-ranked Max McEnelly at 184 pounds.
