GAME NOTES
• Michigan State's 42-40 2OT Victory for MSU Saturday night marked the Spartans' first overtime game since Nov. 19, 2022, when MSU lost to Indiana also in 2OT . . . the Spartans are now 9-8 all-time in overtime games.
 • MSU's last three OT games have been of the 2OT variety, winning two of those three double-OT games . . . Saturday's game was the Spartans' sixth overall 2OT game, and ninth game of multiple OT periods with three 3OT games, as MSU is 3-3 in 2OT games and 4-5 in those nine multiple OT games.
• Michigan State is now 6-4 in home OT games.
• The Spartans' 42 points was the most scored in a home overtime game topping 41 points in a 48-41 OT loss to Northwestern on Oct. 6, 2007 . . . the 42 points was MSU's second-most overall in an OT game, trailing 44 points in a 44-41 OT win at Notre Dame on Sept. 17, 2005.
• Saturday was the third OT night game at Spartan Stadium and first since Sept. 25, 2021, in a 23-20 OT Victory for MSU over Nebraska . . . the Spartans are now 3-0 in overtime night games at Spartan Stadium with a 34-31 OT Spartan win over Notre Dame on Sept. 18, 2010, on the "Little Giants" play and the walk-off Victory for MSU.
• Saturday's Victory for MSU over Boston College was the Spartans' fourth-straight night game win at Spartan Stadium and MSU improved to 25-9 all-time in night games at Spartan Stadium, having won five of the last six and 11 of the last 13 . . . MSU is now 19-4 against non-conference opponents in home night games . . . the Spartans are 5-1 in home night games under head coach Jonathan Smith.
• Coach Smith is now 2-1 in OT games as a head coach after going 1-1 during his time at Oregon State, with both extra period games against Colorado.
SERIES NOTES
• MSU avenged last year's 23-19 loss at Boston College and snapped a two-game losing skein to the Eagles and Saturday was the eighth all-time meeting in the series between the Spartans and Eagles in a series that dates back to 1935 . . . MSU's win cut into BC's overall series lead, now 5-2-1, but the Spartans now lead 2-1 in games in East Lansing.
• The last four meetings since 1995 have been decided by one score or less by a total of 13 points, an average difference of 3.3 points.

OFFENSE NOTES
• Junior quarterback Aidan Chiles threw a career-high four TDs Saturday, topping his previous career-best of three TD tosses last season vs. Maryland (9/7/24) . . . the four TD passes was his third multi-TD outing in his last five games dating back to last season, with two each vs. Illinois and Purdue . . . it was his fourth career game with multiple TD tosses.
• Chiles' 231 yards was his fifth career game with 200+ yards passing.
• Chiles rushed 12 times for a net of 39 yards and one TD, with his last two rushing TDs coming against BC after registering his first rushing TD since last year vs. these same Boston College Eagles (9/21/24) . . . the rushing TD marked his fourth rushing score during his second season as a Spartan and his seventh of his collegiate career with three during his one season at Oregon State (2023) . . . he gained a total of 68 yards on the ground.
• Of Chiles' 12 rushes, five of them earned MSU a first down or touchdown, including three on third down, highlighted by his 3-yard scoring scamper in double OT . . . his other two came one MSU's game-tying field goal drive and another on the Spartans' go-ahead field goal in the fourth quarter.Â
• Sophomore wide receiver Nick Marsh snared a career-high two TD catches . . . after one TD catch last week vs. Western Michigan, Marsh now has back-to-back games with TD receptions for the second time in his career, also doing so last year against Michigan and Indiana.
• Marsh's 68 yards was the fourth-highest of his career and most since 78 vs. Indiana last season (11/2/24) . . . his five receptions tied a season-high after five catches last week vs. WMU and tying for the second-most of his career, behind the top mark of eight catches done twice (last vs. Iowa, 10/19/24).
• Sophomore running back Makhi Frazier had game highs for carries and yards with 17 rushing attempts for 81 yards after his career-best mark of 103 yards last week vs. WMU.
 • Senior wide receiver Omari Kelly caught the game-winning two-point conversion pass from Chiles . . . Kelly had four receptions for 60 yards . . . he had seven catches for 75 yards last week vs. WMU . . . Kelly's 30-yard reception was a new long for him as a Spartan and the longest since a 69-yard catch vs. Memphis last year during his time at Middle Tennessee State.

• Redshirt-junior tight end Michael Masunas snared the first TD catch of his career and finished with a career-high three catches for a career-best 31 yards, highlighted by his 3-yard TD catch in the second quarter.
• Fellow redshirt-junior, fullback Jay Coyne, also caught his first career TD catch with a 5-yard scoring catch from Chiles in the first OT . . . overall, it was Coyne's second career reception after one catch for 12 yards last season vs. Prairie View A&M.
DEFENSE NOTES
• Junior linebacker Jordan Hall registered a career-high 15 tackles, logging his second career double-digit tackle total and his first since the 2023 season-finale when he tallied 12 tackles vs. Penn State (11/25/23) at Ford Field in Detroit . . . Hall's 15 tackles marked the second time in the last three games dating back to last season that a Spartan defender registered double-digit tackles when Angelo Grose had 10 tackles vs. Rutgers (11/30/24).
• Hall's nine solo stops Saturday night were also a career-best, bettering his six solo tackles vs. Minnesota in 2023 (10/28/23) . . . Hall added one forced fumble Saturday, forcing a fumble that teammate redshirt-senior defensive back Armorion Smith recovered in the end zone . . . it was Hall's second career FF and first since aforementioned game vs. Minnesota.
• Smith logged a career-high eight tackles and had his first career fumble recovery.
• Graduate linebacker Darius Snow tallied a career-high tying 1.5 tackles for loss, his third career game with 1.5 TFL, but first since 2021, last coming vs. Purdue 11/6/21).
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
• Ray Guy Award Watch List member and reigning Ray's Great 8 List member redshirt-junior punter/placekicker Ryan Eckley had two punts downed at the 1 for the second week in a row, giving him four punts at the 1 this season . . . the pair of punts at the 1 were part of his 100 percent of punts being inside the 20, as all three of his punts on the night were downed inside the 20, for 0 return yards . . . he finished with a 54.7 yards per punt average, starting his night with a 60-yarder in the first quarter that was downed at the BC 12, then adding a 55-yarder downed at the 1 early in the fourth quarter and topping his punting night with a 49-yarder downed at the 1 on the second-to-last play of regulation.
• Eckley's 60-yard punt was a season-long and his sixth career punt of 60+ yards.
• Eckley also handled kickoff duties for the second game in a row and of his college career, finishing with six kickoffs for a 62.7 ypk average with one touchback.

• Redshirt-freshman placekicker Martin Connington made his collegiate debut in smashing fashion, drilling a 50-yard field goal in his first collegiate attempt that tied the game at 24-24 late in the third quarter . . . Connington then added a 39-yarder early in the fourth quarter that put the Spartans ahead, 27-24 . . . Connington's debut field goal of 50-yards was MSU's first field goal of 50+ yards Jonathan Kim's 55-yarder vs. Iowa last season (10/19/24).
• Walk-on senior kicker Blake Sislo made all three of his PATs for the second-straight game after three last week vs. WMU, which are the first six of his collegiate career after transferring to MSU from Davenport, where he did not see any game action.
