Women’s Golf Plays in the Windy City Classic on Monday

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team is back on the course for the second-straight week, playing in the Windy City Classic at the Glen View Golf Club in Golf, Ill.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament starts on Monday, Sept. 29 with 36 holes and finishes on Tuesday, Sept. 30 with 18 holes. The 13-team field will play on the par-72, 6,368-yard course opened in 1897 just 15 miles from downtown Chicago.
The Spartans tee off at 9:24 a.m., playing alongside Southern Methodist and Virginia.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
- Michigan State will be making its third appearance of the year and is coming off a ninth-place finish among 12 teams at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, shooting a 29-over par 605 (302-303) in a rain-shortened event … Senior Taylor Kehoe paced MSU, shooting an even-par 144 (76-68) to tie for 13th place.
- The Spartans opened the year with a fifth-place finish among 12 teams at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, shooting a 29-over par 893 (303-291-299) … Junior Ana Sofia Murcia tied for ninth place at 3-over par 219 (73-71-75).
- Kehoe leads the team with a 74.00 scoring average through two events, while Murcia is third on the team with 74.80 average.
- Senior Paula Balanzategui, who tied for 16th place at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, has a 75.00 scoring average through two events.
- Freshman Lucia Valderrama, who tied for 28th place at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational at 4-over par 148 (77-71) while playing as an individual, will make her first appearance as part of the scoring lineup.
- This week's lineup also includes sophomore transfer Grace Vetter, who was a second team All-Atlantic Sun Conference team selection and All-Freshman Team honoree last year at Queens University in North Carolina.

WINDY CITY CLASSIC HISTORY
- This is the fourth time MSU will play in the Windy City Classic and its first appearance since 2022.
- In 2022, the Spartans finished in 15th place with a 58-over par 922 (320-302-300).
- MSU finished in 12th place among 15 teams in 2021, with Valery Plata tying for 14th place (8-over par 224) and Brooke Biermann tying for 19th place (9-over par 225).
- The team's best finish was a third-place showing in 2007, with Sarah Burnham and Paz Marfa Sans each tying for third place (4-under par 209).
