This Week In Spartan Athletics – September 23
Here's a look at the week ahead (September 23-29) for Michigan State Athletics:
Men's Soccer
Michigan State plays a pair of Top 10 opponents this week. MSU hosts No. 5 Indiana Tuesday at 6 p.m. in DeMartin Stadium. It's Red Cedar Rowdies Night as students in attendance will be entered in a raffle giveaway and receive double points in the Student Rewards App. Friday, the Spartans will travel to Ann Arbor to face No. 8 Michigan in the Battle for the Big Bear Trophy. Both games will be nationally televised on Big Ten Network.
Volleyball
Michigan State closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a perfect 10-0 record. Next up, the Spartans open Big Ten play Thursday at Minnesota. Saturday, MSU hosts Michigan in the Battle at Breslin at 8 p.m. Students will receive a limited-edition Rally Row jersey while supplies last. Big Ten Network will televise both contests.
Women's Soccer
Coming off a 4-0 Sunday victory over USC, Michigan State hits the road for a pair of contests. Thursday, the Spartans are at Minnesota, followed by a Sunday showdown at Wisconsin. Through three conference games, all 18 Big Ten teams have at least one point in the standings and no one is perfect 3-0.
Cross Country
Michigan State will compete in the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri on Friday.
Field Hockey
The Spartans are on the road for a pair of games in Pennsylvania this weekend. Friday, Michigan State plays at No. 16 Penn State in a Big Ten contest. Sunday, MSU steps out of conference when it plays at Bucknell.
Women's Golf
Michigan State wraps up play at its second tournament of the season Tuesday, competing at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational at Beacon Hall Golf Club in Aurora, Ontario. Next week, the Spartans will play in the Windy City Classic at Glen View Golf Club in Golf, Illinois
Men's Tennis
Members of Michigan State's men's tennis program will compete in the ITA All-American Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this week. Qualifying runs through Tuesday and the main draw opens on Wednesday, Sept. 24 and runs through Sunday the 28th.
Men's Golf
The Spartans are back in action on Sept. 29 & 30 at the Windon Memorial at Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
Softball
Michigan State opens a six-game fall schedule with a pair of contests this week. Friday, the Spartans host Northwood at 5 p.m. at Secchia Stadium. Sunday, MSU is on the road at Toledo.
