Rudaityte, Gottschalk Tabbed For International Competition

East Lansing, Mich. --Â Â A pair of Michigan State rowers will complete for opportunities to wear their nation's colors in international competition this summer.Â

Sabrina Gottschalk (Utica, Mich.) and Ugne Rudaityte (Vilnius, Lithuania) were both mainstays in the Spartan varsity eight, helping MSU to its best finish (fifth) at the Big Ten championships in more than a decade this past spring. Â

Rudaityte will compete at the U23 World Championships this for her native Lithuania. Held on Lake Malta in Poznan, Poland July 23-27, the event will have nearly 1,000 rowers. A veteran of national team competition, Rudaityte  will race this year in a pair. In 2023, she was in the single scull at the World Rowing Championships, and helped Lithuania to a bronze medal in the quad at the European U23 championships in the summer of 2024.Â

Rudaityte just completed her sophomore season in Green and White, and raced at each competition over the last two years in MSU's varsity eight.  Â

Gottschalk, who recently completed her collegiate eligibility, is among the 27 athletes who have been selected to attend the USA Rowing World University Games selection camp in Ann Arbor. The World University Games will take place on July 25-27 in Duisburg, Germany.Â

In her senior season, Gottschalk earned First Team All-Big Ten honors, and was also a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten selection. She was a mainstay in the Spartan varsity eight the last three seasons.
