Spartan Women’s Tennis Travels to Indiana for Pair of Big Ten Matches

MSU visits Purdue and Indiana for Big Ten dual match action.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – No. 58 Michigan State women's tennis hits the road to compete against two Indiana teams, playing No. 51 Purdue at West Lafayette, Indiana on Saturday, April 5 at 11 a.m. and Indiana at Bloomington, Indiana, on Sunday, April 6 at 12 p.m.
These matches follow a weekend for the Spartans in which they had mixed results, defeating No. 44 Northwestern on Friday evening, but fell to the No. 48 Fighting Illini on Sunday morning.
The Green & White currently hold an 11-8 overall record, and a 3-5 Big Ten Conference record, with the win over the Northwestern being the Spartans third win over a higher-ranked opponent.
Looking ahead to this weekend, the Spartans look for another conference upset and more success moving forward.
Series History Against Purdue
MSU has struggled against the Boilermakers, going 5-21 against the Big Ten opponent.
The last victory for the Spartans came during the 2020-21 season, where the Spartans were able to secure an upset in Purdue's home territory, 4-3.
Within the past 10 match-ups, the Green & White have gone 3-7, and are hoping to secure their fourth upset of the season in their upcoming match.
Purdue hosts MSU on Saturday, April 5 at 11 a.m. in West Lafayette, Ind. at the Schwartz Tennis Center.

Purdue has earned themselves a 10-4 overall record, and a 4-3 Big Ten conference record, falling to Ohio State, Penn State and Washington.
In home play, the Boilermakers have stood at 9-0, with the Spartans hoping to deal Purdue its first home loss.
Following their hosting of the Spartans, Purdue hosts No. 3 Michigan, a theme that has been present throughout the Big Ten Conference season as MSU and UM are travel partners.
Series History Against Indiana
Indiana has been a dominating force against the Spartans, holding a 16-8 over the Green & White.
Michigan State has won just one singular match in Bloomington, Ind. with said victory occurring during the 2016-17 season.
In its last 10 match-ups against the Hoosiers, MSU has gone 7-3, with the last win occurring during the 2023-24 season in a 4-0 victory in East Lansing.
Indiana hosts Michigan State in Bloomington on Sunday, April 6 at 12 p.m.

The Hoosiers have had a trialing season, earning a 7-10 overall record and a 1-6 Big Ten Conference record, defeating Rutgers in a 4-2 victory.
Indiana returns from the west coast after dropping two matches against Oregon and Washington to host a set of dual matches against Michigan and Michigan State.

Following their matches at home, the Spartans travel to Ann Arbor to compete against their highly-ranked in-state rival, Michigan on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m.
The remaining home matches will be played out at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center due to construction on the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
