No. 58 MSU Women’s Tennis Opens West Coast Trip With Tough Match At No. 16 USC Saturday

Spartans tangle tough with Trojans.
The Green & White now go into their final west coast match of the trip against No. 24 ranked UCLA on Sunday with a 10-6 overall record and a 2-3 Big Ten Conference record.
Beginning towards the Spartans' match Saturday was the doubles point, where senior Liisa Vehvilainen and redshirt-sophomore Oriana Parkins-Godwin were defeated by No. 5 ranked Grace Piper/ Lily Fairclough.
Following in pursuit were freshman Ellie Blackford and junior Issey Purser, who fell to USC's Jana Hossam/Sloane Morra by a 2-6 score.
The Trojans continued towards the victory, securing three singles matches against the MSU, at No. 1 singles against Vehvilainen, No. 4 singles against junior Matilde Morais and No. 5 singles against Hanna Tsitavets.
MSU's final match on the west coast is on Sunday, Mar 23 at 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT against No. 24 ranked UCLA at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
