Spartans will open three-game B1G series at home of Columbus Clippers on May 8.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State baseball will play the opening game of its three-game Big Ten Conference weekend series at Ohio State at Huntington Park, home of the Columbus Clippers, on Friday, May 8.
First pitch of the series opener between the Spartans and Buckeyes is slated for 6 p.m. The Columbus Clippers are the Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians.Â
MSU and OSU will play the other two games at Bill Davis Stadium, the Buckeyes' home stadium, on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10.
The May 8 game at Huntington Park will mark the first time that Ohio State has played a regular-season game in that venue. It will also be the first time that the Buckeyes have played there since the 2012 Big Ten Tournament was held there.
Tickets will go on sale at ClippersBaseball.com to the general public on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m.
The Spartans' game at Huntington Park is one a total of 11 games in a stadium that's home to a professional baseball team, joining five games at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina, the Spartans' home away from home, and home of the Greenville Drive, the High-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. MSU will be hosting the First Pitch Invitational with Illinois, Albany and James Madison, Feb. 27-March 1, with the game against Big Ten foe Illinois a non-conference game, as the Spartans and Illini aren't scheduled to play each other during the B1G slate. Michigan State then faces Winthrop on March 3 and Clemson on March 4 in midweek action.Â
MSU will also take on the Lansing Lugnuts, the High-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, in the annual Crosstown Showdown exhibition game, on Wednesday, April 1.Â
The Spartans also play a three-game B1G series at Nebraska, March 6-8, in the MSU's conference opening weekend at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park. The Huskers share their home field with the Lincoln Saltdogs, a member of the South Division of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.
Michigan State will also meet Western Michigan on April 15 at LMCU Ballpark in Comstock Park, Michigan, home of the West Michigan Whitecaps, the High-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
Further game, promotional and ticket information will be announced at a later date on msuspartans.com.
